Faculty Death

Tragedy struck the university today when a beloved education professor died after working at the university for 36 years// Elizabeth Billson had been fighting cancer for 10 years and dies at 58- years-old //  She was been estimated to have taught 10- thousand future teachers during her 36 years of commitment// Billson was awarded university's Outstanding Professor last year///

Wreck

A truck accident occurred on I- 59 last night causing a major traffic jam// The road was blocked for 45 minutes when two trucks collided on part of the road that was undergoing repairs// Fuel form both of the trucks spilled onto the highway causing an oil slick on the two narrow lanes// About 10- thousand dollars of goods were lost from one of the two trucks that were refrigerated // Both drivers are unhurt but were cited for speeding and reckless driving///

Bridge Completed

Commuters in the Oak Grove area can again, cut back on their commuting time// The 75- year- old bridge that was washed out by a flood last year has finally been fixed over Roaring creek // The 20 minute drive can go back to the one mile trip it was earlier now that the bridge has finally been fixed// The head of the County Department of Transportation/ Roland Lively mentioned the following comment/

"We already had some money in the county budget for repairs// Problem was/ we didn't have enough to replace the bridge/.... we were able to do it a lot quicker than we had expected//"

The 33- foot long bridge cost 7 hundred thousand dollars to replace// one seventh was paid by the county/ 2 thousand dollars from the state and the remaining was paid by the United States Department of Transportation///
